How much time do you spend in your bathroom?

You may be surprised to know that the average British adult spends a total of 416 days of their life in the bathroom. In a recent survey of 2000 UK adults, over half, 51%, said that renovating their bathroom has ‘greatly improved their overall happiness with their home.’ And, nearly a third of those questioned said that to be able to update their bathroom would be ‘more impactful on their home happiness’ than any other home improvement.

The bathroom is a room that we’re investing in more and more. It’s a room in your house that everyone in the household uses multiple times a day. Whilst we expect our bathrooms to work hard, we also aspire for a relaxing, calm space where we can unwind and chill.  More and more homes are installing en-suites where space allows, as 70% of the UK find sharing a bathroom most frustrating. One in six admit to hiding in the bathroom to ‘get some peace and quiet’. In spite of these figures, the average Brit hasn’t improved their bathroom in five years.

If you are thinking that it is time to spruce up, redesign or even completely rebuild your bathroom then it’s worth considering the long term.  A bathroom makeover can increase the value of your property, adding up to 3% to the value of your home, providing the space is well planned and practical. As well as looking good, a new bathroom will also make you feel good.  A tired, out of date bathroom gives no incentive to spend any more time in it than you have to.  But a lovely bathroom will mean you want to linger and relax, giving you more opportunity to pamper yourself.
