Beautiful basins from UK Bathrooms
I recently discovered that choosing a new basin for your bathroom isn’t easy. There are a plethora of styles and designs. There are also many different sizes, so I went back to basics and thought it might help to explain how to choose the right basin for your home.
Types of basins
First thing to consider was what type of basin I needed, there are corner basins, wall hung basins, countertop basins, vanity units with basins inset, semi recessed basins, cloakroom basins, basins that sit on washstands, basins that need a pedestal or semi pedestal and inset basins.
Check your size
I’d inherited a vanity unit in matt black and needed a basin that literally sat on top of the entire unit. The most difficult part was then finding a basin that would fit, it had to sit on top of the unit but not be too deep. I also needed a basin that had smooth flat edges for toiletries to sit on.
Number of tap holes
Finally, I needed just one tap hole as I already had a black mixer tap, Crosswater MPRO Matt Black Basin Tap
Modern or traditional
Style and design were just as important as I wanted my finished bathroom to be modern.
I worked through all of the options on ukbathrooms.com and using the filters, I was quickly left with a handful that were the right size, shape and style. Comparing brands and prices I opted for the VitrA Sento Large Basin, 78cm wide for just £166.60 inc VAT. I simply had to confirm the size and whether or not I wanted to purchase the matching waste.
I did fall in love with Villeroy & Boch’s Artis, the Oval Washbowl is simply stunning and they also offer a Colour on Demand Bespoke Service. Choose from 12 colours inspired by the seasons with two additional neutral colours in black-grey also available. The soft pink with a brushed brass tap is what I have my eye on for my next project! Just don’t tell my husband!
