Shower Pumps and Low Water Pressure
Having low water pressure in your home or at work causes a number of problems. The bath takes almost an hour to fill and the shower can be so weak it’s a less than satisfactory experience. All too often water pressure in the home is overlooked, whilst people opt for designer showers or the ultimate power shower range they forget that a really good pump can make all the difference.
UKBathrooms offer great choices when it comes to selecting your shower pump. Stuart Turner Showermate are very popular as are the Salamander pump range.

I am living in a ground floor flat. with electricity only. My col water seems to have enough pressure but my hot water is very low on pressure.

Mr Hume - you can not use a shower pump with a combi boiler water heating system. A combi boiler will deliver high pressure and you can normally overide the exact water pressure it delivers through the controls.
If you remove the pump from the water line i am sure that your water pressure on the hot tap will improve.
Also another consideration is that the hot water tap you have may have been designed to work off a certain pressure, and if this is higher than what your combi boiler delivers then it will always produce a weak flow.

Shez - please would you expalin how your hot water is delivered?
Your cold water pressure should be good as most cold water feeds are from the mains water supply where the water delivered is high pressure.

We have a temperature controlled mixer shower and have no problem with the cold water flow but a major problem with the hot water flow and would like to boost just the hot water only.
We only want to boost it very slightly as the shower just runs a bit slow, we don’t want a ‘power shower’ as we only have a smallish hot water tank, heated by an AGA so the hot water wouldn’t last long with a power shower, we also have slow drainage issues into private drainage and I’m not sure it would cope with a lot of water at once.
So can you recommend a very low pressure pump that we can fit to the hot water only (15mm pipe) fo a very slight boost to the flow?
Thank you.
