Shower Room Ideas

Bathrooms of any size can be transformed into your dream shower room. Choosing to remove your bath, or even choosing to making better use of the space you have is a big step. If planned well, you will be able to create the perfect space for the whole family to enjoy. Here are some ideas to help you renovate your new shower room!

Recreate that away-from-home feeling

shower room idea 2  shower room idea 1

Get that hotel-spa feel in your own home with a spa-style shower room! The all-over stone effect tiles and neutral tones give that true away-from-home feeling. The dore oak wood panelled vanity unit is great for storage and gives an organic feel to the room. Using lighter colour tiles in shower enclosures create the illusion of a bigger room which is great if you’re looking to open up the space. Combining angular fixtures and accessories with the smooth round mirror can make all the difference to the feel of the room. A simple switch from your old rectangular mirror will instantly modernise your shower room. They’re also super on-trend too!

Make a statement

Tied in with the spa-style, Moroccan style inspired shower rooms are another variation to consider. Swap neutral earthy tones for more statement tiles and patterns. The rich colours create an environment that feels distinguished and luxurious. Plan the colour scheme by combining blues, oranges and gold for this look. Tiny tiles work well when framing the area around wall-hung storage cabinets or even a mirror. The Belgravia brushed brass fixtures paired with the classic Moroccan style ceramic styles create that holiday feeling that we all crave.

Pretty in Pink (and Grey)

pink shower room idea

Greys and blush pinks have been a popular choice in other rooms of the house, but what about the bathroom? Accent colours have always been a bathroom theme favourite for all room sizes, with pastel colours becoming more and more popular. Using pops of colour make the space completely customisable and can be changed to suit future trends too. The pink chevron ceramic tiles placed against the chrome fixtures on the shower screens keep in with the room’s theme. Adding your accessories and elements in advance can really help with planning the space. Using matching towels, ornaments and even shampoo bottles make the space completely unique to you!

Incorporate a bold feature wall

feature wall shower room idea

Pink not your thing? This fresh alternative incorporates light airy white spaces with deep green marble effect walls. Why not channel your inner Interior Designer and pick a statement feature colour for your room? Having a bold statement wall draws your focus as you walk in, and this green marble look is truly unique. The wooden elements on the freestanding vanity unit complete the look too. Having such a deep colour is a bold choice, but if the space has plenty of natural lighting it could really pay off. This shower enclosure, in particular, is specifically designed for the shower door to attach straight to the wall. Which is valuable if you’re working with a smaller area.

Best of both worlds

mix and match shower room idea

Terrazzo flooring is great for mix and match colour schemes you may want to have in your new shower room. Here it matches perfectly with the soft pink and green tones in this picture. Combining dark grouted subway tiles with statement geometric ones in the walk-in shower creates a playful space. Doing this for attic rooms or narrow rooms can really help separate the sections of the room to give the illusion of more space.

Bring NYC to your home

black screen idea for shower room

Inspired by Manhattan loft style, the Impey Soho wetroom panels are definitely a statement shower piece. Paired with matt black brassware it is the ultimate monochrome look and surely an on-trend investment. You can add an extra ounce of personality by introducing rich colours, or even some deep green planhttps://www.ukbathrooms.com/shower-enclosures/walk-in-showers/https://www.ukbathrooms.com/wet-rooms/ts for a fresh botanical vibe. This look could work in small spaces and you will still have space to dry off! It comes in many sizes and panelling combinations, enabling you to have a cloakroom shower or en suite, all the way up to a full walk-in shower or wetroom.

Due to be popular for 2021 is the leaning ladder radiator. Its appearance may seem imposing for very small rooms but could work well as a heating solution in those more awkward spaces.

Complete the look

flooring ideas for shower rooms

Another big decision you may have to make will be about which flooring to choose. Tiles may be the obvious option and there’s plenty to choose from! But if you’re looking for a natural feeling space then it’s worth looking into laminate flooring too. The Palio Clic Wood Vinyl flooring give the feel of laminate but is completely waterproof. Made especially for the bathroom. It’s available in all different effects to match your room perfectly.

Country style meets the contemporary

country contemporary idea for shower room

If you’re unsure about whether you want a more traditional or modern style, why not incorporate both? This bathroom combines the stylish modern black bathroom aesthetic with traditional elements such as the Victorian style shower valves and taps. The style is very decadent and looks very luxurious. It would also so look great with an industrial style too, by adding wood instead of the contrasting marble tiles shown. The floor-to-ceiling tiles make messes easy to clean making them completely child friendly! This range by Burlington also includes a black country-style sink and even a toilet for a matching set.

Brand new for 2021

Make use of all the quirky alcoves in your home with a recessed shower. This frameless walk-in enclosure has just released and is in a very sought after style. The black tiles paired with brushed brass fittings is sleek and sophisticated. This design uses clever space utilisation by having glass shelves built into the walls to store all your favourite products. The Gallery 10 shower enclosure collection is a brand new release so is the perfect investment to stay on-trend.

Ensuite Bathroom Ideas 2021

Are you looking for a fashionable new ensuite bathroom design in 2021? Well, you’re in luck! Through this blog, I will be providing ideas covering four of the hottest trends of this year. This includes Boutique hotels, Modern Contemporary, Crittal, and Traditional/Heritage style bathrooms. All these styles are perfect for a house or apartment with ensuite bathroom spaces.

Many ensuite bathrooms are often small rooms so space-saving must be key. I will be giving ideas for some of the best ways to divide the space and showcasing the best choice of what UK Bathrooms have to offer. I’ll cover; bathroom furniture, showers, sinks, flooring, freestanding baths, and vanity units.

Boutique Hotel Styleboutique hotel ensuite bathroom

Boutique Hotel style bathrooms scream luxury with a hint of meticulous care. The attention to detail is immaculate, everything from the lighting to wall-hung toilets. We will be looking at a neutral plush style for Boutique Hotels.

The Keuco Royal Match Semi-Recessed Mirror Cabinet is a beautiful recessed mirror cabinet. They come with statement lighting fixtures including an electronic sensor. There is also plenty of space for all your possessions and nothing says sumptuousness like cleanliness.

The Matki Boutique Walk-In Corner Shower Enclosure is a fantastic shower enclosure. It is all about creating open space as it is a freestanding walk-in enclosure that will cocoon you in a feeling of utter opulence.

The Villeroy and Boch Avento Wall Hung Toilet and Vanity Unit Pack is a great example of elegance and simplicity. They make it seem as if they are floating which makes floor cleaning quicker and it is beautifully streamlined.

modern contemporary ensuite bathroomModern Contemporary Style

Modern contemporary style bathrooms are very much of the moment. They use the deliberate use of colours and textures to illustrate spaces rather than objects like the more traditional styles.

The Ideal Standard Concept Air Cube 50cm Semi-Countertop Basin holds a bold, angular shape offering a sharp but minimal look. This makes it a deliberately unique design statement for any modern contemporary bathroom. There is also plenty of room within the wood cabinet for all your needs.

The April Cayton Modern Freestanding Oval Bath is a classic oval shape with a high-quality white finish. Making this bathtub a modern piece that fits in most contemporary layouts.

The Keuco Moll range provides the finishing touches to any contemporary sleek bathroom. With its full range of stylish fixtures and accessories.

The Crosswater 25mm Storm Grey Stone Resin Rectangular Shower Tray can cater to many different bathroom sizes. As it comes in seven different sizes. It is also finished in a cool storm grey which makes it a great fit for modern bathroom styles.

Crittal Style

crittal style ensuite bathroom ideas

The Crittal style is nothing new but the way it is being used within bathrooms is. The use of steel-framed shower enclosures or metal framed mirrors can completely transform a space. The Crittal style will allow your ensuite bathroom to become space-saving, light, and relaxing. Crittal is the umbrella term for small glass panes framed by interlocking metal bars. They can come in the form of shower enclosure frames or a wetroom panel. Who knew industrial brassware fixtures and accessories were to become a major trend?

The Impey Soho Black Double Walk-in Wetroom Panel is a great example of how a glass panel can zone an area without creating block walls. You can even pair the wetroom panel with black taps and other accessories for a finished professional look. I would recommend pairing this with a monochrome floor pattern or one of our laminate flooring options. For example the Karndean Palio Clic Vinyl Stone Flooring.

traditional ensuite bathroom ideasTraditional Heritage Style

The traditional style will continue to be timeless. Many bathroom styles have come and gone over the years but Traditional has always stayed. One of the best features traditional bathrooms do is provide an innate sense of sanctuary and privacy. It is the ultimate home experience.

A problem some ensuite bathrooms have is that they are tight on space. Yet, this Burlington Buckingham 1500mm Freestanding Slipper Bath is perfect for a smaller space. It is also of a high standard so you don’t miss out on quality.

Nothing says heritage more than true British workmanship and heart. You can find this in the Burlington Sarah Georgian Basin with Aluminium Washstand.

Finally, the Imperial Antique Crackle Ceramic Wall Tiles create a classic but simple frame that will last the test of time.

3D Bathroom Design Service

UK Bathrooms 3D Bathroom Design Service is tailored to your needs by our team of expert design consultants.  As well as offering advice they provide a product sourcing service and will guide you through every step in planning and designing your dream bathroom.

Since the launch of our 3D Bathroom Design Service earlier this year, we’ve been inundated with requests for bathroom designs.

One of the recent requests came from a homeowner in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire who had an idea on the look he was hoping to achieve for not one, but for two new bathrooms.

The customer gave our design consultant the room dimensions and various points about the two spaces. He also briefed his likes and dislikes including his preference for a classic contemporary look.

The two rooms were designed to make the most of the natural light and considered specifics such which way the doors opened.  The results are two perfectly put together new bathrooms, using products from leading brands such as Crosswater, Villeroy & Boch, Kudos, VitrA, Britton and Zehnder.

With limited space in the ensuite our design consultant was able to keep the room looking light and airy, with a fresh contemporary style.

The Crosswater Svelte 8 walk in shower panel  and the Villeroy and Boch Memento 2.0 toilet.

Our design consultant used a white Carrera marble background to keep the room light and bright.

The main bathroom shows the VitrA Shift wall hung toilet with soft closing seat. Britton’s Shoreditch basin with its matching vanity unit in matt grey works perfectly against the marble tile.

Crosswater’s MPRO brassware is used in this main bathroom and the stylish Trojan Emerald Double Ended Freestanding Slipper Bath sits perfectly in the design.

The 3D Bathroom Design Service is available without you having to leave the comfort of your own home. Complete our contact form online and we’ll be in touch, it’s as simple as that. The one time fee of £100 per design, is fully refundable against any purchased made £1000 and over).

Bathroom Design Service

Since the launch of our new 3D Bathroom Design Service our design consultants have been busy creating dream bathrooms for our customers.

One of the very first bathrooms designed by us was for a London based customer.  The brief was to make use of the light and spacious 2nd floor space that offered great views from its windows.

Our design consultant chatted via Zoom with the client and our design consultant put together this lovely layout, maximising the space available.  The customer wanted a separate shower and a freestanding bath and our designer was able to hide away the pipework in the clever shelving behind the vanity unit.

The gorgeous Victoria + Albert Roxburgh freestanding bath makes a real statement placed in front of the window.

A walk in shower has been created with the Matki One Shower Screen which never fails to impress.  The customer had a penchant for traditional brassware and so we selected brassware from the Burlington range.

Pantone’s colour of the year 2021

For only the second time in more than 20 years, Pantone’s colour of the year 2021 will be TWO colours: Pantone 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and Pantone 13–647 Illuminating.

Two independent colours that show how different elements come together to support one another, a lesson learned by everyone in 2020 and hopefully one we can continue to practice in 2021.

These two colours give us practicality and solidness and at the same time warmth and optimism, the joining of Pantone 17-5104 Ultimate Gray and Pantone 13-0647 Illuminating is “one of strength and positivity” says Pantone.  Definitely a story of colour that catches a deep feeling of thoughtfulness along with a promise of sunnier times ahead!

Pantone 13-0647 Illuminating is a cheerful, bright yellow alive and brimming with vivacity. Pantone 17-5104 Ultimate Gray reflects solid and dependable elements, a firm foundation and everlasting qualities.  It is quietly reassuring, standing the test of time and resilient in its nature.

Two colours for 2021 – with a great deal of meaning for us all.

UK Bathrooms Design Awards Winner 2020

The winning space of the inaugural UK Bathroom Design Awards has been crowned, a bold room designed to stand the test of time and passing trends, made up of monochrome tiles, tactile surfaces and, perhaps the year’s biggest bathroom trend, statement black brassware.

The space is one of the first rooms completed in the new home of textile designer Sian O’Doherty in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, which is being built so the family can live alongside to the herd of alpacas that contribute their wool to Sian’s sustainable modern knitwear business. Sian is an award-winning textile artist and designer creating beautiful and unique, ethically produced colourful fashion pieces, homeware and accessories with a modern Welsh twist.

Sian, her husband Mike, and three-and-a-half-year-old Ava have been living in a one room static caravan for two years while they wait for the house to be finished and baby number two to arrive in January. ‘The new bathroom is just amazing – especially after having had such a tiny shower for so long!’ Sian tells us. ‘I wanted it to be simple, timeless and practical, but also to have a designer edge.’

Large format white tiles meet a tactile slate floor and are finished with slick black brassware and accessories. ‘We kept things as simple as possible, with clean lines, and a monochrome palette – I was mindful of creating a space we could live with for a long time’ Sian explains.

The combination of longevity and effortless industrial style is what drew the judges to the space. ‘I love natural materials, and the slate floor is a wonderful contrast to the slick white walls,’ Sian says. ‘I paired it right back because I wanted it to last, but we pushed the boat out with the large shower head to make a modern statement and give it an industrial edge’

While the space looks beautiful, it’s based on the requirements of real life. ‘I chose each element to be as practical and easy to clean as possible,’ Sian explains ‘I kept referring back to what we needed as a family’. Thus, larger tiles mean less grouting, grout is grey for quick maintenance and surfaces are matt to show fewer small finger prints.

‘Pretty much everything came from UK Bathrooms which I hadn’t planned but just made sense – they guided me to good models in the price range I could go for, and because I bought so much, delivery was free,’ says Sian. ‘UK Bathrooms just made life more manageable, such as making sure I had the things that you don’t think about, like water traps and plugs. The bathroom includes luxury brands such as Crosswater and VitrA, and it was so easy getting them from one place.’

‘The bathroom is exactly what I was hoping for; clean lines, open space, and practicality; I take great pleasure in using it and will do for years to come’ says Sian, who won £500 worth of Love2Shop vouchers gifted by VitrA Bathrooms. ‘I’m absolutely thrilled to have won the UK Bathrooms Design Awards, and it’s been a massive help with finishing off our new home.’

VitrA Voyage by leading designer Arik Levy

Bathroom design is evolving, and VitrA’s expansive Voyage collection points us towards the look and feel of tomorrow.

Gone are the days when the bathroom was a practical affair, a room only to dash in and out of. In recent years the space’s functionality has melded with tactile materials, sensuous shapes and considered use of colour as it moves further and further from existing purely for cleanliness, to somewhere to enjoy, retreat to, and luxuriate in.

The design of the bathroom and the objects within it have adapted accordingly, in a trend that first saw freestanding baths take on ever more experimental shapes, and slowly trickled through into furniture, brassware and ceramics. As things get increasingly progressive, leading the way is Voyage by VitrA, a 130-piece range by renown Israeli creative Arik Levy, characterised by flowing, sculptural sanitaryware and adaptable wooden storage.

‘VitrA’s Voyage collection breaks bathroom boundaries with its unique interpretation of ceramicware, and forward-thinking approach to space saving and flexibility’ says Graeme Borchard, Managing Director at ukbathrooms.com. ‘The range is a glimpse into the future, showing us that contemporary spaces will be imaginative, impactful and approached differently to today.’

Serene ceramics

The collection clearly plays into the bathroom’s new role as a room for relaxation. Sanitaryware is modern and elegant, circular or oval basins merged with round-cornered rectangular trays, which invoke a deeply calming feel, thanks to the smoothness of the shapes and the clear craft involved in combining the forms. These pieces speak of poetry, artistry and a soothing softness.

Wet or dry?

In a further challenge to the bathroom norm, Voyage basins blur the boundaries of the wet and the dry, with the tray surrounding the bowl creating a mid-point between the two and initiating a new dialogue between countertop and bowl. Will this extra area be used for product storage, to catch water, or in ways we are yet to discover?

Total flexibility

Voyage is entirely wall hung, an innovation which makes it incredibly versatile and entirely customisable to specific spaces and needs. Storage focuses on simple timber boxes – inspired by the time designer Arik Levy spent living in Japan – units and wall panels that can be placed horizontally or vertically, in five natural tones including light and dark oak as well as white, grey and forest green.

Signalling a change in bathroom design, Voyage works in rooms big and small, crucially embracing individual needs and preferences, and inviting the user on a journey to build their own personal space to unwind in.

Our tips on how to create a spa at home

Creating a relaxing spa-like feel in your home can seem like a challenge.  But your dream spa-like bathroom can easily be achieved. By taking inspiration from luxury spas you can make a bathroom space that soothes your soul and helps you escape from everyday worries.

When planning you new spa bathroom design consider everything from small details such as including natural elements to create a tranquil feel, to items such as walk in showers and water flow.

Colour Palettes

Colour choice is very important when decorating a bathroom and when trying to create a new serene style, colour has a powerful effect on our emotions.  With a plethora of colours to choose from, we suggest opting for soft earthy tones, as they will convey a sense of comfort and warmth.  Try shades of white and soft brown as these work well with wood tones.  Add Crosswater MPRO brassware and combine with hints of greenery and metallic tones.

Bathroom Storage Solutions

Using wood-effect furniture embraces natural materials whilst keeping to an overall soothing look.  Furniture will keep surfaces clear and clutter free.  Crosswaters Arena in Modern Oak is a great choice.  If you need more storage space – be creative, use glass jars for beauty bits and baskets to store hand towels.

A spa-like shower

A walk in shower arrangement is paramount to a spa-like bathroom. Combine with a large shower head for a rainshower experience.

Finishing touches

Most importantly don’t forget those finishing touches. Whilst not key pieces they will make all the difference and bring your new design together. Check out the Crosswater MPRO accessories available on our site from toilet roll holders, towel rings to shelving units.  We suggest combining them with marble surfaces and a beautiful countertop basin – create your beautiful spa bathroom!
