Getting the best out of your shower

Most bathroom appliances require good water pressure to function properly. All cold water pipes are drawn directly from the mains supply and often vary in pressure. The water that feeds a gravity hot water system is stored in a header tank often located in the attic. The pressure in your hot water taps is determined by the height difference between the outlet and the header tank. For example, hot water taps in the upstairs bathroom or in bungalows will be at a lower pressure than those in the downstairs cloakroom or kitchen of a house. The problem can be overcome by fitting a pump or often more simply an electric shower.

Electric showers can be fitted almost anywhere with a cold water pipe and suitable power outlet. They’re economical to run, don’t require a high water pressure, provide hot water on demand and will work even when the hot water system is turned off, for instance in the summer months. One new exciting electric shower is the Triton Aspirante Electric Shower in brushed steel available in a choice of 8.5kW and 9.5kW versions, this model replaces the Inscriptions range and brings new and exciting looks to a very popular and well priced electric shower.
